Established on 21st May 1966, Pakistan Society for Training and Development emerged at a time when structured corporate training was non-existent in Pakistan.
Founded by Mian Abdul Ghani - a statesman, intellectual and visionary, PSTD was built on the belief that national progress depends on professional capability. Drawing inspiration from modern management practices he encountered during his tenure at Shell Pakistan, he introduced structured leadership and supervisory development to Pakistan’s corporate sector.
In the 1970s, PSTD became widely known for pioneering Leadership Grid Training, bringing globally recognized managerial frameworks to local industry. It quickly established itself as a trusted institution for leadership and supervisory excellence.
In 1992, PSTD strengthened its institutional presence with the launch of a purpose-built premium learning facility, a dedicated space designed to elevate the professional development experience.
As industry needs evolved, so did PSTD. In 2007, it introduced large-scale learning conferences, creating platforms that brought together leaders, practitioners and thinkers to shape national conversations around leadership and development.
In 2021, responding to a rapidly digitizing world, PSTD expanded into digital learning integrating technology-enabled solutions to ensure learning remained accessible, agile and future-ready.
From Foundation to Future
What began as a pioneering training body has evolved into a forward-looking learning institution, blending legacy with innovation. Today, PSTD delivers classroom, hybrid and digital experiences designed to build leadership capability, organizational agility and measurable impact.
Rooted in the founder’s vision yet continuously reinventing itself, the journey of PSTD reflects resilience, relevance and an unwavering commitment to advancing professional excellence.
The mission remains unchanged: building leaders equipped for a changing world.
